Brody Adamec.jpg

Brody Adamec - Bunson, Stage Manager, Policeman

Brody is an eighteen year old rising senior at Fauquier High School and though he has performed in the Embers as a young lad, this is his first official Torch production. He very much enjoys the environment of Torch, and commented on unique and special it is that everyone in the cast is friends. “Every couple days of the week, I get to see people I enjoy being around,“ he says. He’s a working stiff at Denim and Pearls (say hi when you see him!) and enjoys video games socially. “I hope the show is as fun to watch as it is to act in!“

*Father Nicholas Blank - Nunzio

Making his debut as St. John’s parochial vicar back in 2021 and his debut on the stage in Torch’s The Sound of Music, Fr. Nicholas has been one of Torch’s biggest fans and supporters. Though he comes from a large, theatrical family, he never considered himself a performer until the bug bit him when he played the Bishop in Sound of Music, but had so much fun and so deeply enjoyed Torch’s wholesome, faith-centric environment, that he returns now to the stage. May you live your life as these kids do - for the glory of God - and may God bless you!

Untitled design.png

Anna Campbell - Goon, Policeman

This coming year will be sixteen year old Anna’s junior year at Kettle Run High School. She loves being in shows, and has been very involved in her high school drama program. She first became interested in Torch through the Sparks workshops and had so much fun she wanted to come back as a Torch member. Her favorite thing about being in Torch is how kind, welcoming, and inspiring the cast members are. She has always felt very welcomed by the warmth the Torchies have displayed, and is excited to be a part of them this year.

Anna Campbell 2.jpg
Julia Carter.jpg

Julia Carter - Miss Medda Larkin

Julia is seventeen years old and has been homeschooled for two years after going to a public school in Charleston WV. She has been in five musicals, playing Scar in The Lion King in eighth grade, and enjoys acting, singing, and drawing. This is her first Torch show, and she has enjoyed the welcoming nature of the Torch group. She’d like to thank her parents, siblings, friends and directors for encouraging her to pursue her enjoyment in acting, and wishes all of you a pleasant show!

Matt Clark.jpg

Matt Clark - Jack Kelly

Matt Clark, standing at 5'7", 156lbs is a recent highschool graduate and excited to be in his first official production with TORCH. Matt is one of the few cast members who was cast in both the 2020 production (RIP) and the 2024 production. Matt has been doing musical theatre for approximately 9 years, mostly with the St. John's Drama Club in Front Royal. His favorite roles include "Joseph" in "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" and "Phil Davis" in "White Christmas". When Matt is not on stage he enjoys trying to figure out how social security is not a pyramid scheme (he's still trying), sweet ice tea with lemon, skipping leg day, and Princess Diaries 2: The Royal Engagement. Matt would like to thank everyone on the production team, his parents for not disowning him, and most importantly God, for giving me the opportunity to glorify Him as we dedicate this performance to Him.

Myles Coleson.jpg

*Myles Colson - Mayor / Crew

This is new St. John’s parishioner Myles’ first time performing with Torch, though he has pitched in with the Sparks production earlier this year, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. While he has former acting creds of being an extra in an indie film, he has joined Torch expressly to help out, and has helped build set pieces for this production and enjoys helping out where he can.

Pez.jpg

Nathan "PEZ" DalPezzo - Race (Newsie)

This is Pez's 8th show with Torch and loves the heck outta these people! He has had a blast performing in this show, making new friends and seeing old pals! As a theater kid, his spare time is almost entirely made up of being in other shows! He would like to thank Mrs. Galvin and the whole production team who really made this show possible! “Enjoy the show y'all!”

*Colette Davis - Snyder the Spider / Crew

Collette Davis.jpg

Collette is a recent graduate and a veteran Torchie. This is her seventh play overall and second time on the Torch stage and she is so excited that she can finally be in Newsies after originally being cast as “Snyder” in the canceled TORCH play of 2020. “TORCH has been a real family for me for over five years now and I am grateful for all those who have made it another home. I don't know what the future may bring, but if this is my last show with these people, I will gladly pass the Torch to those who come after me and I pray that it means as much to them as it has to me. I wouldn't have missed it for the world.”

He anjoys carving, messing with Rubik’s Cubes, and compising piano. He is very grateful to his grandparents for helping him earn enough money, his parents for making it all work, and most of all Mrs. Galvin for the opportunity to do this.

Owen Harris.jpg

19 year old Owen has been in six Torch endeavors, starting way back when he was 12 years old. He describes this show as being a fun atmosphere full of wonderful people, which has been his favorite part of this theatrical experience aside from the dancing. When he's not onstage, he's a working stiff who does housing projects, and he loves to hang out with friends and do church stuff - helping out with different ministry outlets. He would like to extend his thanks to his sister, Aslan, for getting him involved in this group to begin with, and he thanks the audience for coming to watch the show!

2024 Torch Newsies Program Graphics 2.png

The TORCH Drama Club made its debut at St. John’s Catholic Church in 2002 with 25 homeschoolers, ages 6-14, to perform The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Today, the Drama Club has nearly 100 active students and even more graduate volunteer members from the Piedmont area (public, private, homeschooled, and early college) who perform in 3-4 productions a year. It encompasses three age groups ~ The EMBERS (elementary school aged), the SPARKS (middle school aged) and TORCH (highschool-college aged).

TORCH uses literature based story-lines to weave in author studies, historical events, script-writing, costuming, makeup artistry, and set-building to supplement the drama experience. Throughout the year, in anticipation of these productions, TORCH hosts workshops to discuss plot, themes, and character traits for the stories; and to coach the actors in best practices for stage presence.

The older TORCH veterans are guided to coach and direct the younger less-experienced drama members - passing on the TORCH - and in return these thespians gain the knowledge and respect for carrying on the drama club in a family atmosphere.

Chris Galvin, founder of TORCH, continually spends hundreds of hours coordinating the job duties of producer, director, teacher, mom. She established TORCH to encourage young people to learn the art and step up to influence their confidence in society. Many TORCH graduates have moved onto college and the work force, and fondly admit that their experience in TORCH has greatly influenced their ability to stand out.

Each year, club members raise the bar and try new and different presentation techniques. They have performed in different locations, created dinner-theaters, produced radio-dramas for recorded CDs, and even added small films to their repertoire. With the stage experience and technical knowledge these young people gain, the TORCH Drama Club has developed into a well-run organization filled with talent to pass on to younger eager members.
